A shrine to Fons built from Corsican spoils was dedicated by Papirius Maso, probably in 221 B.C. (Cic., Nat. D. 3.52: Fontis delubrum). There are no known remains, but on the basis of a fragment of the fasti viae Ardeatinae (Degrassi, Inscr. Ital. 13.2, 154) it is agreed to have stood outside the *Porta Fontinalis, probably on the saddle between the *Arx and the *Quirinal next to the *Via Flaminia (Aronen, cf. Richardson).
