Remains of a large residence along the *Sacra Via between the *Domus Publica and the *Domus of M. Aemilius Scaurus, dating to the 1st c. B.C. (area of c. 1000 m2; Papi 53-54); extant are a number of subterranean rooms, probably servants’ quarters, a large garden, and fragmentary remains of the living area on the ground floor. The entrance to the residence, which was from the Sacra Via, was flanked by two tabernae (shops). While Papi provisionally publishes a plan and elevation of the house (and indicates that its final publication is underway), its location is simply given as “halfway between the Domus Publica and the *Clivus Palatinus” (53); this location is not specific enough for our map to include the reconstructed plan, though an index number has been placed on the spot. Papi also notes that a cryptoporticus was unearthed “east of the Domus Publica” (55 n.51; as yet unpublished); this structure is not marked on our map.
