<p>Excavations at the S foot of the *Oppian under the arena of the <i>ludus Magnus</i> in the *Colosseum valley have revealed a black mosaic pavement with marble inserts belonging to a late-Republican aristocratic peristyle <i>domus</i> (Colini and Cozza 51-53, 54 fig. 74, pl. 2). To the N stood walls of Republican date with a well-preserved door facing onto the modern Via Labicana (Colini and Cozza 49-50 with fig. 70, 54 fig. 74, pl. 2). Our map marks the position of these Republican/Augustan housing remains.</p>
