Late-Republican residence on the lower slopes of the N *Palatine, located at the intersection of the *Nova Via and *“Clivus Palatinus”, next to the *Domus of M. Aemilius Scaurus. Excavations in 1983-85 unearthed remains of a house with an irregular rectangular ground-plan (c. 33 x 25 m) that was entered from the Nova Via (Santangeli Valenzani and Volpe fig. 1). Walls in opus reticulatum and a black-and-white mosaic date the residence to the late 1st c. B.C. (Tomei 412, fig. 109). The house shows evidence of fire damage, perhaps incurred during the Neronian blaze of A.D. 64 (Santangeli Valenzani and Volpe 23).
