Two rooms, probably belonging to a Republican residence on the *Caelian, were recovered in 1958 during street work E of the Lateran Basilica (Liverani; Nota Santi). The walls were built of opus mixtum, and one room was revetted in marble; both rooms had fine polychrome mosaic floors. No elements allowing for a precise date were recovered, but the building technique of the walls is ascribed to the mid-1st c. B.C. (Liverani 15).
