Compital shrine marking the intersection of the *Alta Semita and *Vicus Salutis, restored by Agrippa while aedile in 33 B.C. (VI]CI SALV[TIS: CIL VI 31270=ILS 128; Coarelli). The findspot of this fragmentary inscription within S. Maria Maddalena (Lanciani, FUR pl. 16) suggests the location of the crossroads and indicates that this portion of the *Quirinal had a residential function in the Augustan era. This shrine is of especial importance as it establishes a firm association between its location and the toponym ‘Salutis’ which allows the collis Salutaris, the Temple of *Salus and the *Porta Salutis to be placed nearby.
